FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know about a sauna ritual

A sauna ritual usually lasts about 2 hours, but we don’t stay in the sauna the whole time. We have in-rounds and out-rounds, which means we will be in the sauna and out the sauna, with a contrast of hot AND cold.

  • Pre-hydrate with water
  • Eat a light meal about 2 hours before the sauna
  • Arrive 15 minutes early to allow yourself some time and spend to change and be ready to begin
  • 2 towels – 1 to sit on, 1 to dry off with
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Something warm and comfortable to change into afterwards

You can wear swimwear or sauna wear. The more natural the fabric the better. Sauna hats can help with the heat, but they are not essential

Sauna rituals are for everyone. I will guide you through the experience.

You are always welcome to step out of the heat if you feel unwell. It is important to listen to your own body. Please let me know before the ritual begins if you have any concerns, so that I can support your needs.

  • Rehydrate with water. Electroytes can also be helpful.
  • Eat well.
  • Allow yourself some time to integrate the experience

  • An invitation to connect deeply with nature

Yesterday I had the privilege of experiencing the Pirtis sauna ritual led by the Steam Guide Nick Tettersell at the Saunassa Spa in Newquay.
It was truly transformative and overwhelmingly beautiful.
Nick held the space for us with non-judgement, deep compassion and love, guiding us gently through the stages of Pirtis, helping us connect with ourselves and with nature, releasing thoughts and emotions that no longer serve us and setting intentions for the future.
We whisked our skin and the air in the sauna with ash, oak and lime leaves, both dispersing and generating energy. Nick poured a rosemary infusion onto the hot rocks, transporting us with the sharp tangy floral scent to meadows and forests and mountains. Our skin was scrubbed with seasalt, lavender and violet flowers… coffee grains and cacao, made by Nick with foraged botanicals from the natural landscape.
     I feel new.
    Reset.
    Cleansed.
    Content.
    Held.
    Loved.
I would highly recommend experiencing the Pirtis ritual with Nick… this ritual is a clearing,  an act of self-love, an acknowledgement of your true being in a safe space where you can allow yourself to let go of all defences
