WHAT TO WEAR IN THE SAUNA

VIBRATIONAL FREQUENCY & HOW IT AFFECTS US

There has been a lot of talk recently about the vibrational frequency of fabrics and how they can affect the human body.

Vibrational frequency refers to the electromagnetic waves that are emitted by everything, including fabric. In the Human Emotional Vibration Chart, we can see what frequency we are vibrating at when we are feeling an emotion. A healthy human body vibrates on average at a frequency of 62-68 MHz, so feeling positive emotions such as Joy & Love will promote wellness in the body, and negative emotions such as Fear & Shame will have the opposite effect.

The clothes that we wear and the fabrics they are made from could therefore be either harmonising with the body, or disrupting its natural state.

Natural fabrics such as Linen, Wool & Hemp have high vibrational frequencies of up to 5,000Hz. Whereas synthetic fabrics such as Polyester, Nylon & Acrylic are very low vibrational with a frequency of 0Hz.

Wearing synthetic fabrics that lower our vibrational frequency could have a negative impact on our wellbeing over time, leading to lower energy levels and discomfort.

When we consider this in relation to our sauna practice, it will come as no surprise that wearing natural materials are going to be far more beneficial than the synthetic swimwear that many of us have been wearing.

SAUNA HATS

There are many benefits to wearing a sauna hat, including:

  • Regulating body temperature – as the heat rises in the sauna, the head will be impacted the most by the intensity of the heat. A sauna hat can act as insulator, shielding the head, ears and eyes from too much heat.
  • Protecting the hair and scalp – a sauna hat can help to keep the moisture locked in and avoid hair drying out.
  • Extending sauna time – in keeping the head cool, it protects the head from over heating and allows the heat to penetrate the body more deeply.
  • A good quality sauna hat made from 100% wool will not only have anti-bacterial properties, but its high frequency could also have energetic benefits.

It is believed that the high frequency of wool will promote wellness and balance in the body, therefore a good quality sauna hat made from 100% wool will not only have anti-bacterial properties, but its high frequency could also have an energetic or vibrational impact, assisting in our harmonisation.

WHICH SAUNA HAT?

There are multiple sauna hat companies, with more popping up as the British Sauna Culture grows. SAUNA CLOTHES

Truth be told, the most beneficial way to sauna is to be naked, but us Brits aren’t necessarily comfortable with the idea. Many saunas now have a naked session for those who like to go au naturale, but for the majority, sauna wear is worn.

Unfortunately, most swimwear is synthetic, which is not ideal in the heat, or for our vibrational frequency. Synthetic fibres block airflow and trap the heat. Our skin is not able to breathe, so the body overheats, and sweat can get trapped in the fibres. Not to mention the microplastics that they release which can then be absorbed into the body.

Synthetic and manmade fabrics have a frequency of 15Hz or lower, which is significantly lower than the body’s natural frequency. It is believed that wearing these fabrics could disrupt our natural energy field, causing fatigue and discomfort. So if our focus of sauna is to promote wellbeing, could our swimwear be affecting this?

Linen and wool with their high vibrational frequency and anti-bacterial properties are the obvious choice. Both allow the skin to breathe, an important factor for the detoxification process in the sauna. Linen also has hypo-allergenic properties, potentially helping to decrease skin inflammation and allergies. Although interestingly, there is research to suggest that linen and wool when combined, actually have combined frequency of 0Hz. So perhaps choosing one or the other, might also be better for our wellbeing.

We are yet to find the ideal natural swimwear for the sauna, but here’s a few alternatives made with linen or wool:
